Who are we?
The Carolina Moonlighters are a group of young (and young at heart) men who love to make vocal music in the barbershop style. If you have the desire for some fellowship, entertainment, and to let some chords ring, our barbershop chorus is the group for you.
We are not all professional musicians. We do not all read music. We bring no judgement. Just a love of singing, and a passion for this hobby that makes the world a better place.
What do we do?
The Carolina Moonlighters are passionate about three things:
- Singing Barbershop music
- Helping in the community
- Telling bad jokes
All jokes aside, we mostly enjoy the fellowship and the feeling you get when you sing a chord in perfect harmony and get to hear the overtones "ring."
We regularly perform concerts as fundraisers to support local charities like Catawba Regional Hospice and local High School Choral Programs. We have performed as entertainment for the Hickory Soup Kitchen annual fundraisers, sung holiday programs at local nursing homes, among many other organizations which we support.
When do we meet?
The Carolina Moonlighters have a regular chorus meeting weekly on Thursdays at 7:00pm. Our Board of Directors meets monthly on the third Thursday at 6:00pm before regular rehearsal. Check out the calendar at the bottom of the page for updated event times.
Where do we meet?
The Carolina Moonlighters are pleased to be associate members of the United Arts Council and our regular meetings are in the North Annex of the SALT Block (Art Museum and Science Center). The building is across the parking lot from the Patrick Beaver Memorial Library, and adjacent to the main entrance for the Catawba Science center. The address for the SALT Block is:
243 Third Avenue NE, Hickory NC, 28601
